PS2 Ghostbusters focused on multiplayer action - first scan
The was much excited chatter on the Internet nearly a fortnight ago, with the news that a game based on the new Ghostbusters film was in development. While the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 versions are said to cater for a more traditional gaming audience, the Sony PlayStation 2 build is said to be aimed at the more casual player - and now we learn, with a focus on a multiplayer experience.
The following is taken from the latest issue of Game Informer in describing the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii Ghostbusters game:
“The storyline from the next-gen version will be carried out in its entirity in our game, but our primary focus is on multiplayer,” said Red Fly’s Jeff Mills. “So we’ll reproduce everything you do in the game, but then we’ll repurposed the maps for various multiplayer things and introduce new maps for multiplayer scenarios as well.”
Jeff Mills has also stated that the Sony PlayStation 2 version of Ghostbusters will feature a multiplayer mode and that rather than being developed from the ground up for the console, it will be ported from the Nintendo Wii version.
Rather than the realistic look of the Xbox 360 and PS3 Ghostbusters, the Nintendo Wii version is cartoon-styled, as apparent from the Game Informer scan (right). It’s hardly looking fantastic at the moment, but with the game not being released until late next year, we’re hopeful that Red Fly Studios can produce something worthy of the license.
