Call of Duty 4 problems to be fixed soon
Chief technology ‘officer’ of Activision Steve Pearce issued an apology on the Infinity Ward forums to apologize for the difficulties lots of people have been experiencing while playing Call of Duty 4 online. Not only that, but he also explains what went wrong and how they’re fixing it.
Due to the huge popularity of Call of Duty 4, the servers on which the multiplayer portion was heavily dependant on, stressed out a bit. It could take a very long time for people to get into a game, if that was possible at all. At the time of writing the servers should be back up again after they’ve been taken down for a few hours to make some improvements.
The expectations are that the performance of the servers will improve over the next few days as the technical staff of Activision and DemonWare (backend servers) continue to work on making optimizations. Also, additional hardware will be deployed to make sure we can all play a smooth and trouble free game of Call of Duty 4.
Our expectation is that the server load will continue to increase as system bottlenecks are removed. So in the coming days, we will continue to monitor our system and make further optimizations and improvements as necessary. We will be deploying additional hardware to improve our database throughput and load handling. In addition to the added hardware, we are further optimizing components of the underlying server software to improve performance. We hope to be able to hot deploy these updates while the system is live. In the event that the system requires further scheduled downtime, we will post a message both here and in-game via the “Message of the Day” to keep everyone informed

love the game, spent hours learning how to get around, got to rank s. stf.sgt (first timer on online games) was happy with my guns and then i FUCKING LOST IT ALL …..FUCKING CRAP hope some one is shitting bricks to get it fixed i will wait with playing again untill they get there shit together… ps when it works it is the best i have seen and will blast away he he
why the hell cant my game or software update its version?! everytime i try to update it freezes in the middle of downloading then later says an error occurred during the download operation (80710723) what the FUCK?! somebody anybody please tell me how to get this shit to act right some i can slay some bitches online???

people are saying one of the best games of the year. bullshit. if you can even get past the problems trying to run the damn game you can’t even play online properly. this game should get the hype award. too much hype so much let down. they should have waited till they got all the damn bugs out of the game before releasing. fuck cod4 and fuck activision in there ass. lost all hope for there games
try restarting ur internet connection before updating it…

the problem i am having is everytime i try to find a server for the zombie game it just loads its like its trying to find a game but it dosnt it just loads forever but i can play the game if my freinds invite me but what if i want to play online with random people i cant because i cant a game please fix this problem i am not the only one
when playing online everything is great and fun until you get the bomb and plant. I plant the bomb that’s fine it says i get the 100xp but when the game ends it is not added on to my level score, it’s really frustrating……please help if you possibly can!
