Play Blu-ray movies on your PSP

After the flop that is called UMD movies, movie studio bosses came up with another scheme to get people into buying expensive Blu-ray discs. In the hopefully-soon-to-be-released new Blu-ray Profile, it will be possible for movie studios to include a portable version of the movie on the disc which can be copied to a PSP memorystick.

This will all be possible once Blu-ray Profile 2.0 will be released, but when that is, is unknown at this point as version 1.1 was released not too long ago in PS3 Firmware 2.10. This all sounds very consumer friendly, but let’s not forget about how expensive Blu-ray discs are at the moment. It’s true that we don’t have to buy two copies of the movie (UMD) anymore, but since Blu-Ray discs are priced much higher than regular DVDs, don’t be afraid that movie studios will be losing any money on it.

Do you often use your PSP as a portable movie player?

So are you saying PSP can play BlyRay now ? Or are you saying this will be a normal version comparable to DVD? Wow, thats some capacity on a memory stick.Or will it be a less advanced version like that that would fit on a single CD? In fact not as good as you can download from the net?

No, you can copy a movie file from the blu-ray disc to your memory stick in your psp. This obviously is a much smaller file because of the lower resolution of the PSP screen. Something like 480×272 (PSP screen) instead of 1920×1080 (high definition)
