In-game advertising launched for Burnout Paradise
EA are no strangers to in-game advertising, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that they’ve partnered up with advertising firm IGA Worldwide Inc. to launch advertising for companies such as Dodge, Burger King, Gillette, Sling Media, Vizio, JL Audio and more in the newly released Burnout Paradise. Static ads for these companies will appear on billboards, store fronts, on the radio and on vehicles in the game.
Justin Townsend, CEO of IGA Worldwide, said in a statement issued today
“We are extremely excited to partner with EA as the Burnout series continues to be such a smashing success around the world. The in-game advertising market is expected to reach nearly £340m/$670m this year which would indicate marketers, game developers and publishers like EA are fast becoming more convinced of the many branding and financial benefits that advertising within this medium continues to deliver.”
As development costs continue to rise, developers and publishers will start to look more towards other revenue streams such as in-game advertising to help offset increased expenditures. i luv it makes da game mor realistic!!!
cya:)
Burnout Paradise is a very good game but the statics ads can some times be displayed when you don’t want to see them. i am board of seeing the Gillette Ads on the vans. But on the other hand you get free updates to the game.
The ads, which I receive on the XBOX360 side of this game, are perfect, especially when considering that they are localized and did, in fact, remind me that it is time to buy Jays tickets. While this is in the current ad list, the fact that there are Gilette vans, Burger King ads, and odd DIESEL company stores and banners. It’s a very enriching experience.
I love it.
