Resident Evil 4 Classic Edition for PS3/Xbox 360?
Sketchy details emerged early last week about the possibility of yet another version of Resident Evil 4 being readied for the marketplace. Following the success of the game on the GameCube, PlayStation 2, PC and Wii, if the source was to be believed then there is yet another iteration in the works for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, called ‘Resident Evil 4: Classic Edition’. But is this truth or nothing more than an elaborate April Fools’ joke?
According to website ‘The Horror is Alive’, this is definitely the truth and nothing but the truth, with Capcom eager to squeeze even more sales out of the highly rated entry into the popular Resident Evil franchise. But rather than merely porting any of the previous editions, it seems Capcom will be pouring even more than before into this next generation update. The original entry on the website states:
“I was sent this goody by a friend who works at Capcom’s San Fransisco building. He spied an artist working on what appeared to be boxart for an upcoming port of Resident Evil 4 for the XBOX 360 and PS3 entitled “Resident Evil 4 Classic Edition”. Details are sketchy, but from what my contact could gather, the game will feature Hunk more than before. When pressed further, they said Hunk would be getting his own story-campaign, similar to Ada’s Separate Ways scenario in the PS2/PC/Wii versions. I’m attempting to get direct captures of the boxart, and not a quick cellphone grab but this will have to do for now. We’ll have more to report on this in the coming days!”
The picture of the PlayStation 3 box art can be seen in this article and more at the source. It seems that, if true, we will be hearing more details about the game in the very near future as the planned release is indeed 2008, most likely to bring some of the Resident Evil fanbase over to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in preparation for the release of Resident Evil 5 in 2009.
However, when asked “Are there any plans for the future to port RE4 on Xbox360 and PS3? Maybe with graphic restyling (720p) and new features…” over on Capcom’s Official Website, the response was thus:
That is what Resident Evil 5 is for. No plans for RE4 on 360 or PS3 at this time.

I sure hope so. I played RE 4 on a borrowed playstation and loved every minute of it. Since then I’ve switched over to Xbox 360 and have been dreaming of the day when I could play it on my own console.
Same Here I Hope Capcom will make all the Residnt Evil games for Xbox 360 and PS3 they need to start making these games for American Consoles, No offence but this isnt Japan + I find the controls on gamecube to be complacated
RE4 is one of my favourite games ever. But I wish they’d stop trying to squeeze every penny out of it. I’d love to play the “new” level with Hunk (that’s a section on the Island in the main game) but I don’t wanna have to play the game again. Although it is fantastic. highly recommend to anyone that hasn’t played this game yet (both of you!)

I certainly hope this is true, I’ve never played any resident evil game (apart from wrestling with the controls of REmake for 15 minutes) and would love to have the opportunity to play this on my shiny 360

it’s a fake. if they were going to do it, they would have done it by now. With RE5 coming in march, they won’t release this in january. It’s a bit too fine a wire if they released it before march. Maybe it’s going to be a collectors edition for after the hype about RE5 being released. Even if this is real though i woudn’t buy it, as ive alreeady got it on the Wii.

my opinion is that this is very likely real in the videos the graphics do seem a bit better (mostly hunks texturing) and the interact button is a blue X and the back button in the menu was a big red B on-top of that there is that menu… now take into account this could all be faked, but really if someone had the technology and knowledge to do those things would they really waste their time doing something like that???

hey It would be very cool for RE4 to be on the xbox 360 I’ve been waiting for this for forever but why now; now that the new RE came out would they be thinking of one for the newer system. that doesn’t make any since on their part.

although a liked RE4(a thought it had a superb story-line and gameplay) it would be good to have a remastered version to suit the 360 and ps3 graphics standards, but a think the real smart move for capcom (and also all the true RE fans will back me up on this one) will to remake a version of RE2 for the next-gen consoles,like they done wih RE1&RE0 for the gamecube. it would be remake of the century in the eyes of the true RE fans,as for me and millions other this was the best installment in the RE legacy. but what i would like to see if this brilliant remake is ever considered would be the same game with better graphics .etc but also extras like maybay a side quest for hunk as seen in the FMV when there trying to take the G-virus sample from William Birkin and maybay that part and hunk tryin to escape and maybay make the story line smart so it leads into even deeper secrets of racoon city’s inccident that would in future lead to other games to answer the question’s and if Capcom plans all there future games like this theres a possible chance they could be goin on for years and years to come…..’just a though’ capcom should employ some true fans to the company for marketing and ideas for future installments in the RE series. if you have replies and views on my comment your are welcome so share them with me :)..Thanks.

I think this is a fake because if you look closely the Resident Evil Special Edition logo on the second screen doesn’t quite follow the right angle of the TV and doesn’t line up with the edges of the screen.. it is crooked.. which means it was stuck on top over the video.The left hand side is slightly tilted too far down to the left and doesn’t run parrallel with the rest of the text. That’s something Capcom wouldn’t do… who knows lol.. but after reading that Res 6 might take 4-8 years (gulp) I for one would love Res 4 on the 360.. come on Capcom do it!
It would be kinda nice, but seeing how Resident Evil 4 honestly isn’t that old, it probably wont happen. I honstly dont want a remake of it yet. I’d rather see them remake the first three games.
I agree with Shawn I’ve herd the storyline for the first 3 games have are good but the graphics really suck if Capcom combines the technology they have now with the great story line of the first 3 they would make way more money then remaking #4 however i wouldn’t bother having #4 for my PS3 too much either

Resident Evil 5 its much better that Resident Evil 4, so there is no reason. But, should be one great idea if Capcom put all Resident Evils in one DVD, to Xbox 360/PlayStation 3/PC. Oh I almost forgot! Analise this last video. You can see that the Resident Evil 4 its in the PC version at 1:24. I don’t know about the first video, but the second one… its in the PC version and, Capcom would never put this kind of camera in RE4. Its so worst! Shit! This is a horrible fake!
