Metal Gear Online beta delayed in US and Europe
If you were lucky, you might have been able to play one game of Metal Gear Online last night when the beta went online, but most of us got one or more errors about accounts being in use or servers being heavily overloaded due to the huge amount of players. Konami has shut down EU and US access to the game for the time being to make room for Japanese gamers.
Once they manage to stabilize the servers (and hopefully add a lot of extra capacity), everyone will be able to play the game. Also, since we can’t play now for a few days and the beta was supposed to end on May 5th, the duration has been increased to May 11th. Now this information isn’t useful at all without a new starting date, but unfortunately there isn’t one yet. We do know is that Konami is aiming for the weekend, but unless they add a shitload of extra servers this could be a little bit later.
We would like to thank all players for their keen interest in taking part in the beta test.
However, we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected.
As a temporary measure, we will be suspending the European public beta test and restart it once we stabilize our server.
We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused. We would like to add that due to the above reasons, we will be making the following changes to the schedule:
1) Suspend beta test: As of 25/04/2008 08:00(CEST)
2) Planned for 04/25/2008 24:00(PDT). While the start is planned for the weekend, it may change due to unforseen circumstances.
3) Beta Test closure: This will now be on 11/05/2008 at 24:00(CEST) rather than 06/05/2008 at 24:00(CEST)
How disappointed are you?

It makes the 10 hours it took to get Beta-ready worthwhile really…
3 hours to download the Beta and subsequent patch was enough, but the 7 hours it took me to get Konami’s superfluous IDs? Ridiculous. That they didn’t have the technical infrastructure to support the flux of Konami ID page hits smacks of disorganisation. But that this wasn’t used to gauge the level of support the Beta servers would need for the test is insanity!!
Still can’t wait to get my hands on it whether it’s before June 12th or not. I just hope they sort themselves out before MGO truly goes live.
That sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah they didn’t think many people would sign up for mgs cause its not like popular is it …..dickheads
