Konami announces Rock Revolution
Ever since Electronic Arts stepped into the realm of rock rhythm games with Rock Band and turned up the heat in the genre, things have gone well for gamers as two giant companies (the other being Activision, for those not up-to-date) battle each other for supremacy. The competition will only get fiercer this Fall when Konami’s newly-announced rhythm game Rock Revolution joins the fray.
Unlike Rock Band which features a single-player campaign that fully supports all of its three peripherals, Rock Revolution is a drum-focused game that includes two separate career modes – one based solely on the drums and the other on the lead guitar/bass. Also different is the structure of the drum set, since it includes seven total buttons, as opposed to Rock Band’s five. The feature list goes on with five difficulty levels, downloadable content support, 40 tracks interspersed between hardcore, punk, rock, and classic genres, and online multiplayer which allows for four players to duke it out on the stage (or a team of three on one console against another team of three on another console).
Said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami:
“Rock Revolution will be the most innovative and realistic rock game to hit the market, that will provide a quality drum peripheral and music that players will appreciate. As the originator of music-based games, we are dedicated to bringing fans a truly preeminent music experience. With Rock Revolution, we put the emphasis on the drum kit, delivering an experience unlike any other.”
