Dual Shock 3 available in Europe very soon
It seems that July 2 is going to be a great day, first there’s a new firmware update, and now the Dual Shock 3 controller is also going to be available in stores across Europe. New to the DS3 controller is the rumble feature, the rest is identical to the Sixaxis controller.
To use the Dual Shock 3’s vibration features, you’ll at least need PS3 firmware version 1.94, but that’s not really a problem as hooking it up to the internet will allow you to download the latest version. It was long believed that rumble wasn’t possible in a motion sensing controller, but that was just a lame excuse from Sony for not coughing up enough money to pay off Immersion, the brains behind the rumble technology. But who cares about that now, just get a Dual Shock controller as soon as possible because it will enhance the gameplay quite a bit.
It’s too bad that most PS3 bundles still ship with one or more Sixaxis controllers, but in time they’ll probably get replaced as well (when Sony’s stock finally runs out). In the meantime you can also import a new controller from another country, where it’s probably less expensive than the unannounced price in Europe.
