[E3 2008] Duke Nukem Trilogy announced for PSP

The development of Duke Nukem Forever might be reflecting the game’s name a little too much for everybody’s liking, but the gaming icon is soldiering on today, as Apogee Software has announced that it will be releasing Duke Nukem Trilogy - three new missions featuring the action-adventure star for the Sony PlayStation Portable.

The Trilogy is comprised of three episodes: Critical Mass, Chain Reaction, and Proving Grounds, but unfortunately there is no concrete detail about any of them so far. A return to Duke’s 2D roots ramped up for a new generation of gamers, perhaps?

“This marks a new beginning for a famous publisher with a history of market-making innovation,” said Terry Nagy, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Apogee. “I can’t think of a better character than Duke or a better franchise than the Trilogy to usher in a new era for Apogee.”

“It’s funny how what’s old is new again in this industry,” remarked Apogee co-founder, Scott Miller. “Many of the things Apogee pioneered are back in style, so it only makes sense to bring back Apogee and its properties with a visionary team that will once again create innovation for gamers around the world.”

There’s also no idea of a release date either, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear anything.
