In what is a first for both the games and music industries, Metallica has announced on the official website that its upcoming album, titled Death Magnetic, will become available for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same day it debuts in stores this September, as well as Guitar Hero World Tour later on.

The post on the site reveals that the simultaneous release will include every song from the new Metallica album. Those who intend to purchase Guitar Hero World Tour when it hits store shelves later on in the year would be best advised to hold off with the album, since the album purchased for Guitar Hero III won’t be compatible with World Tour. The exact date and pricing are yet to be determined.
