Guitar Hero won’t work on PS3

In a blow to the backwards compatibility claims of Sony, IGN have proven that Guitar Hero 2 and the Guitar peripheral do not work on the PS3, all because the Guitar does not have a required button needed to start the game.

For whatever reason, when you go to play a PS1 or PS2 game, you are asked to press the Playstation button, in order for the process to continue. But since the Guitar is no regular controller, you cannot press any buttons and thus it does not work. You also need the Analog buttton pressed so the red light comes on. Again, the Guitar does not have this feature. (All this was done using a USB hub for Dualshock 2 controllers to work on a PC. The PS3 does support this device.)

He obviously hasn’t heard the news

This is dissapointing, because this is the type of game that you will probably enjoy forever, especially with mates. However, it raises a few questions.

Firstly, are Sony planning on releasing a PS3 version? We saw it with Microsoft who didn’t release an update for Burnout to work, because a next-gen Burnout was already in the making. Could this be the case? Secondly, perhaps Sony had not realised the problem, they hadn’t thought of it, and as such will patch the problem as soon as possible.

Who knows, but if enough people kick up a fuss, then you can be sure Sony will do something about, if a PS3 version isn’t already in the making. But here’s hoping!

Could you not just plug a regular controller in until your playing the actual game and then just swap them?

Can’t i just use the regular wireless remote untill the game starts and then swap it with the guitar? - email : walter07047@yahoo.com

There is a USB Attachement that you can buy, that converts the standard DualShock from PS2 and PS1 to work with the PS3. ANd it DOES WORK with GH2. Not sure if any of you have tried this, I have and it worked fine. Available at Circuit City, Best Buy, Future Shop. Easier to find online.

I was just in Circuit City two days ago and I saw the same USB attachment that makes Guitar Hero 2 work with the PS3! it was only like 10 bucks too!

omg u people are idiots.

sony sells a converter for the ps2-ps3, it plugs the ps2 controller into an end and the other side is a USB port, on the front is a button that acts as the ps button, so it has to work

Guitar hero I II and 80’s works on PS3. I have them using Pega ps2 to ps3 adaptor! It works perfect! No lag or calibration needed. The only thing that doesn’t work is the whammy bar. And As for Wireless Guitars, They work too. I have the offical Red Octane Wireless and the Nyko and they both work great with the pega adaptor. I found this adaptor on Ebay.
