PSP 3.0 upgrade to have PS1 emulation
The PSP is set to be able to play PS1 games soon, as the next firmware update will include emulation to allow PS1 games to be played on the move. They will downloadable from the PS3, and possibly the PC and the PSP itself.
The PS3 online service has now gone live, and the lucky Japanese early adopters can start downloading ten PS1 games currently listed:
- Bio Hazard Director’s Cut
- Konami Antiques MSX Collection V1
- Konami Antiques MSX Collection V2
- BishiBashi Special
- Arc the Lad
- Jumping Flash! Aloha Danshaku Funky Daisensou no maki
- Minna no Golf 2
- Silent Bomber
- Tekken 2
- Mister Driller

This is pretty exciting news for PSP holders, because there were some great games on the PS1 that I’m sure many people will want to go back to. Tekken 2 is a prime example.
Expect this to also be available on the American PS3 launch. You can let us know what games are on offer, because presumably they won’t be the same as what the Japanese get. All in all, pretty exciting times to own a PSP and a PS3. There are sure to be more ways in which the interconnectivity works, and no doubt the information will trickle out as the weeks go on.
