First five PSone games available
During Sony’s E3 2006 speech, Kaz Hirai announced you would be able to download PSone games and play them on your PSP. This time has come and the first five games have been released. Unfortunately for Kaz, Riiiiiiiiiidge Raaaaaaceeeeerrrrr isn’t among those games right now.
It’s Sony’s intent to release more titles, and at one point you’re supposed to even play them on your PS3 as well, but right now they’re having trouble getting that to work apparently. This ability to play them on your PS3 will probably become available after a dashboard or firmware update, whatever you want to call it. We don’t have any information about the security measures that have been taken unfortunately, but I’d assume you won’t be able to supply multiple PSPs with a game you’ve only paid for once. We also don’t have any information about how to transfer these games to your PSP, all we do know is that it’s done wirelessly which would mean you need to have the expensive version of the PS3. A memory stick with enough space left is obviously also required for your PSP.

The games that are available right now are:
- Tekken 2 (535MB)
- Crash Bandicoot
- Coolboarders (283MB)
- Hot Shots Golf 2 (157MB)
- Syphon Filter (385MB)
The size for Crash Bandicoot is unknown but it’s probably not far off of the other titles. Each of these games will set you back only $5.99 which is an awesome deal if you haven’t played games like Crash Bandicoot or Tekken 2 yet. If they keep these prices up then this service might become quite popular in the future.
