PS3 update 1.31 available
A small week ago, firmware version 1.30 was released which included a bunch of interesting new features and bug fixes. Now the 1.31 update is silently trying to make its way up to the core of the consoles to do all kinds of hopefully good things.
On a more serious note, we have no idea what this update actually does. It might contain fixes for the previous update or it might not. If Sony would be kind enough to let us know on their website we’d appreciate that. The previous list of updates only contained new features and did not list any bugfixes even though there were so it probably wouldn’t be too far fetched to think this update only consists of bugfixes. The fact that it’s only a 0.01 increase in version numbering supports this fact as well.
If you have any idea what might have been changed or if you’re noticing any difference at all, we’d love to hear about it and will update this post.
well if their updates are as annoying as the PSP .01 updates anyone who owns one of these will be updating it every other month with security fixes
Constant updating doesn’t bother me at all, Sony’s rate of bricking seems to be non-existent compared to the 360 and Wii, however like the guy below me said, Sony is still running into the issue of updates breaking more things then they fix.
1.30 made it possible for me to NOT watch Blu-ray movies in 720p on my 720p HDTV. I have to send a 1080i signal to my 720p HDTV and have it convert it.
I was hoping that 1.31 would again let me watch Blu-ray movies in 720p, but that’s not the case.

Okay you heared it from me, first time for some positive ps3 related shit:
march 2007 will be 2.0 firmware for ps3, which means video and voicechat for everything as soon as you enter xmb or play a game or browse the web etc. This will give ALL games voice and videochat.
Also multitasking= downloading demos while playing games etc.
Also ps3 will act as server for your psp which means that you connect your ps3 to the interboy, and then go on holliday in new zealand, and then whatch all you anime that is attached with an external 400GB drive to your ps3. When you are bored of playing games like MGS:PO. lol.
ps3 will get a usb tv tuner which will make it a pvcr. S compared to other consoles it will have THE best multimedia functions of ALL. But this sucks as i already have a nex gen console but fuck it
