I would have liked to see at least some simple crash damage. No damage at all sucks. With that said the card in GT5 look great!

Well why don't some of you check our GRID. It will be on the XBox 360, PC, and PS3, along with hand helds. It has unbelievable crash damage. A flying tire hitting a car makes the car shake.

Ummmmmm, a poor damage system would be better than none. Travelling 250Kph straight into a wall and all that happens is that you stop, that really takes the simulation element out of it.

Personally I love the GT series. I haven't played forza but I've heard that it is a good simulation game.

Both games, however, are very far from a true simulation and I'm guessing it'll be at least another two generations before we start getting close to a true simulation. I'm talking about having finite element analysis for each part of the car, computational fluid dynamics for aerodynamics and drafting, things like that. I don't think realistic damage should be implimented without CFD to effect car handling.

wel, i love playing online and that is one of the things i was looking forward to on gt5.with i depend on my ability to turn clean consistent laps(not that i am great) but when a person runs into ur car or hits a wall at speed, i think that some type of damage should occur. FROM LAST PLACE, SHOULD HE COME BACK AND TAKE 1st PLACE?

Damage is brilliant. I already knew there was a chance of it not being ready for GT5 so it wont effect my choice to buy it.

I hope destruction derby will progress to this-gen to fill the gap.

No, that would make a shit Arcade Driving game. It would make an accurate driving simulation (and so better, as the point of a simualtion is to simulate rael life).

GT series never had any crash since day one, they just trying an excuse. But I'll buy it anyway, but forza 2 will be there also. WiiPs360

realistic damage would compleatly ruin any driving game!! Thik about it! If you hit a wall/crash barrier/other car at speeds of more than 20mph chances are you would "Right off" you car it's as simple as that! and lets face it although driving game's are as realistic as they can be there are a million reasons why they are totaly un-realistic.

Uhm Forza 2 isn't out and PGR3 has a crap damage model, it more or less only dents the mirror a bit even if you drive into the wall at 200Mph.

Anyone who has REALLY crashed a car will know that in game car damage is a long long way from being realistic.
95% of the crashes we have in games would render the car undrivable, pgr3 damage was so superficial it was laughable, and from the videos i have seen of Forza2 the same can be said. Although the damage might look ok i have seen someone crash a Ferrari Enzo at 150mph head on into wall and just drive away hardly realistic. I will still be buying both Forza2 and GT5 regardless of the damage modelling.

For such an extraordinary racing sim as GT5, I would like to see damage included on the cars. But in defense of the Polyphony employee, he's completely correct.

The detail of the ingame cars is crazy and prety much unrivalled by any other game, especially considering hte sheer number of vehicles included. To include something like crash damage would seriously injure the series polished sheen if it was done incorrectly and the amount of work that would need to be done to render the vehicles seriously insane.

But, there's always 6 haha. And with the extra space on Blu-ray, they could start developing 6 as soon as they finish 5 and still release it 3 years from now and we'd all be unbelievably blown away.

Now what I'd like to see is some way to integrate 5 with the PSP so you can race away from home. With the amount of time able to be put into the game, it'd be nice to be able to do it from the bus.
