Rumor: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 looks better on the PS3
Sony fan boys unite, a game developed for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 supposedly looks better on the PS3. According to a Konami insider, the PS3’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 betters the Xbox 360 equivalent.
The rumor sees a supposed Konami employee posting on his blog that Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 on Playstation 3 will be vastly superior graphically than the Xbox 360 version. An English translation and summary of the Konami employees blog on a forum began this rumor. The features mentioned, in poor translation, are the following;
- predicted capacity is 18GB over. current rendered modeling capacity is 10GB.
- 60 fps
- online play for PS3, Xbox360, PC,PS2 but no online for Wii.
- Huge quality gap between PS3 and XBOX360 ver. PS3 is better. maybe three times.

According to PS3 Fanboy, the statements above roughly translate to;
”The claim stems from the extra capacity afforded to the game thanks to Blu-ray, allowing for additional content and supposedly graphical superiority. It is rumored that the game currently takes up 18GB on the Blu-ray disc, but is smooshed down to 7GB on the 360’s dual-layer DVD. An added perk will be the 60fps claim — not just that PES ‘07 will have it, but the PS3’s rendition of it will top the competition.”
While the news would be a huge success for Sony, the PS3 and Blu-ray, the rumor doesn’t particularly strike as being trustworthy. For one, the news comes from an interpretation of a Korean translation and the PS3 hasn’t yet been released in Korea. A rumor of this kind would go some way to swaying any potential buyers to the monolithic black console as opposed to the Xbox 360.
The credibility of the rumor falls a little flatter when the forum post mentions confirmation of Final Fantasy 7 for the PS3, something endlessly denied by Square-Enix. Those original vids were tech demos, remember?

Funny how Epic can fit the best looking game ever ‘gears of war’ onto a dual layer dvd but Konami can’t streamline their programming for a football game, stinks of bad developers, nothing else. Well that or a totally pointless web site/magazine fabricating news which is what ps3 fanboys are resorting too with nothing else to talk about.
Well i am hoping if it does use an extra 10gb of room that it will be for the commentary so we don’t have to here the same stupid statement repeated 20 times a game.
Also lets hope that both the 360/PS3 versions play as well as the PC/PS2 versions, as i can safely say ProEvo6 is better on the PC/PS2 than on the 360, which is why i took my 360 version back for a refund.
They will probably release the additional stuff that the ps3 owners get through the live marketplace and make us stupid 360 owners pay for the additional content!
Right ps3 games already run at slower frame rate than xbox 360…sooooo sticking twice as much detail into a ps3 game is going to make it run better than the 360 version aswell… Gee someone better get onto the phones of all those people making ps3 games to tell them that….lol
Don’t worry .. dodgy rumours like this will cease to pop up when Starcraft 2 is announced in Korea shortly (errr .. should I mention that’s another rumour?)

Gears is the best looking game but it the length of the storyline suffers for that.PS i hate this whole fanboy thing it REALLY gets on my nerves.

To me, personally, this rumour makes no sense. The reason for this being that how can having aditional content on the PS3 version make it run faster than that of the 360 version.
We must consider that not only does the PS3 have slower disc read times, but also that they have less RAM to cache graphics files into. I might not be no video game developer, but to me this rumour makes no sense at all.
However, if they were streamming content from a disk (which i cant see possible as football fields are confined spaces and not huge sprawling game worlds).
Again, i am no game developer…

hey, you ‘ediot’ - folding is NOT 3D processing. It’s folding. The 3D pictures you see on your screen is just fancy shader effects that your graphics card throws out when it’s got nothing better to do.
In fact - the 360s GPU (Graphical Processing Unit, Graphics Card) is significantly more powerful (folding wise) than the PS3 GPU, as well as the PS3’s Cell (common knowledge that the very fast RAM speeds and clock-cycles on GPU’s are better than CPUs, universally). The only hindrance is the GPU can’t do more complex folding because of it’s design nature.
But really… shut up. You sold your 360? Then you’re a mug. Even if you didn’t like it. It’s best to have both consoles… then you can play both platforms exclusives. (And btw… there’s a full list of games that perform better on the 360, including future titles… so don’t even bother trying to respond)

All i can do is laugh at you unkowledgable 360 folk about the PS3 read speed… here are two pionts that makes that claim BS…
1) All PS3s have Hard Disks, hence, developers can develop games around an HD ie. Put certain content into the HD, which, in turn, lowers Loading times, want an example? Oblivion
2) the large size of Blu Ray discs means that developers can put the same type of code twice in different areas of the disc, hence, the machine doesn’t have to jump as far in order to find the required data (example? Oblivion and Resitance)
The reason why the PS3 doesn’t need as much ram is because it has 7 cores where developers can write specific code to each core. True, it’s harder to make games this way… but this just shows that the PS3 is truly a Next Gen Console… Developers need to adapt to this newer, better technology, and anyone will tell you, this is almost always difficult to do, but when people get the hang of it, the possiblities are endless… the 360 just uses conventional PC technology, which is weak sauce imo…

Dude, I agree with the HD statement, even tho Oblivion on xbox caches onto HDD [its not even out on PS3 so not sure how you can comment on it]
Dude developers dont put code / graphics on the disk twice to make it faster because they are cool. They do it because it would be too slow otherwise cos BR is a very slow medium especially on the outer rings of the disc.
The ps3 has less ram for games to use, end of. Whether it has 200 cores or 2, there is still the same amount of ram to share, so it really doesnt matter how many cores it has.
Oh and btw, at current there is only one game engine in the world to use more than one hardware thread, thats the unreal engine, which uses 2 [i.e. you dont need 7 on a console]. The only thing the other thread does on the unreal engine is to precache graphics, all game logic, movement, ai etc is done on one main thread. And thats the best gfx engine on the market!

Actually, they haven’t said the xbox is better, they’ve mentioned that at the present time, the 360 is better value. Not necessarily a better console.
In time will we only be able to tell which console is better. In my opinion the PS3 will be but I also like the 360 as well.

Personally after having 7 diffrent 360’s in 6 months is pritty bad to say i spent over £300 on the console and damn there all loud in a bedroom.I agree that the 360 games look better than the ps3 games.
Recently got myself a ps3 first you notice is damn its so quiet! Yes the ps3 doesn’t have many games or good ones going for it just now but motorstorm and resistance are launch games and if you compare those to the 360 launch games Ps3 wins hands up. call of duty 3..splinter cell, tony hawks 8..etc 360 ported to ps3 so obviously they look better on the 360.
Just now 360 will lead in terms of graphics but soon as we’ll be seein some very amazing ps3 games and there also a read which you can find on google how the Ps3 is going to make in-game load screens a thing of the passed.
360 is already seein its limits and is over a year ahead in games if not more because ps3 is harder to develop for but sony is bringing out brand new development tools to designers to access into the power more easy.
Apart from all of that only time will tell.
Agree with a lot of points except the one about the 360 reaching it’s limits. Usually a good few years before that happens to any console and usually the case that the new one is just round the corner.
For example compare release PS2 ganmes to whats available now. Or Xbox to what it available now.
Takes the developers a few years to get up to speed with the tricks of the box they are working with. Just think there is still quite a bit waiting round the corner.
