Stop Press: FIFA 08 announced
In the never-ending run of sport titles that EA churn out each year, FIFA 08 has been officially announced, confirming who will be on the packaging, and also some news about motion capture.
Featuring on the packaging this year will be King of Ugly himself Ronaldinho, who will take centre stage for all FIFA 08 global packaging and marketing campaigns. Localised packaging will happen again this year too, with Miroslav Klose of Werder Bremen on the front cover for Germany; Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid for Spain; Andreas Ivanschitz of Panathinaikos FC for Austria, Tranquillo Barnetta of Bayer Leverkusen for Switzerland; Florent Malouda of Olympique Lyonnais and Frank Ribery of Olympique Marseille will be paired with Ronaldinho for France. The UK and US guys will be announced next month.
The guys on the front covers will also be doing some motion-capturing for the game. EA hope to capture the body movements, individual moves and playing style of each player, which will eventually become digitized and will form the life-like movement of the virtual players in future versions of EA’s FIFA games.
The game is being developed by EA Canada in Vancouver. Not to miss anyone out, the game will be released for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP, PC and mobile. The game should ship sometime in the Autumn. Anyone excited about this, or are you awaiting news of Pro Evo 7?
