PS3 spy MMO announced - The Agency
If you thought Sony Online Entertainment was a company that just invested time in EverQuest, you’re now proven wrong. Playstation Magazine featured a new online MMO game for the PS3 called The Agency, with the focus of the gameplay on being a spy and doing spy-stuff.
In the article scanned by GamesWank.com, PSM reveals only a few details as let out by Matt Wilson, the executive producer on the project. Says Wilson;
“The game design comes from the core principal of living the life of an elite agent. We want to make an action, adventure, and intrigue game with betrayals, etc… the stuff that hasn’t been tapped in the genre [MMO].”
If that’s not enough, there will be two opposing factions, the “covert super-spy UNITE organization” and the “action-focused mercenary outfit, Paragon.” The opportunity to engage in boat and car chases with a load of mates tagging along is provided for, as well as the ability to access locations such as casinos and nightclubs.
What’s one of the key factors in the game? As combat details are under wraps at present, the focus seems to be on what you’re wearing, “you are what you wear. Get dressed, go play, get better” says Wilson.
Sony is aiming for a broader market with The Agency, as opposed to the solid role-playing hardcore market presently participating online. A pick up and play approach seems to be in the works, with deeper social rewards and private spaces available for those investing time in the game.
Sounds interesting. Playstatic will have more details in the coming months as they come to light.
