You don’t get it. Fox is only releasing movies in Blu-Ray. So, in effect, no… xbox owners won’t be able to watch it in HD as there won’t be an HDDVD disc. Nobody really cares or thinks anybody is going to be heartbroken that the lousy Halo movie is only available on Blu-Ray and thus not able to be seen on the xbox.

By the time this movie is made and comes out in HD, the format war could be over and because Microsoft didn’t commit to either form they can still have a Blu-Ray add-on for the 360.

this will never happen microsoft wont let the movie come out on blu ray but they will let it come out on hd dvd i meean they both hold the same amount of memory. How thick are you guys. Fox does not do HD-DVD, they do Blu Ray. If Fox makes the movie the only way people with a 360 can view it is standard dvd or market place hence only Blu Ray owners get to view Halo in full quality.

It wouldn’t be a bad tactic for Sony to help fund the Halo movie through FOX due to the Blu Ray exclusivity. That would put Microsoft in a terrible position: 1) 360 owners would be stuck with the DVD version, while Halo junkies actually go out and purchase Sony Blu Ray stand alone players, or 2) Does MS come up with a BR add-on and pay rights to Sony? However, IF this is true MS would most likely just release a HD version over the marketplace.

Wouldn’t that be insane though, Halo being the determining factor in the high def war? Halo built the Xbox for MS and eventually ended up helping Sony and BR out! Funny stuff….if it were true.

I’ll be honest guys. I myself bought the PS3 on release date on 23rd of March in EU. I only own Ridge Racer 7, RFOM, Oblivion.. This is because im waiting for all the big games to come out.. So i’m a bit bored of these games atm. Having played them to death.. So .. the eagerly awaited 26th of September arrives… Halo3 360 only.. i went to my uncles house as he plays on the 360. And we completed the single player mode. Resistance is an excellent FPS game. But yes imo Halo will always be the dominant console FPS’er…I also enjoy the idea of gamerscore for people like myself who i’d class myself as being a “hardcore gamer” I’m thinking about getting the 360 elite myself tbh whilst enduring this long wait for more games on ps3..

I believe that MS will have some sly devious scheme to somehow distribute Halo on the xbox. This may be done Via and update or an extra piece of hardware that must be purchased. Either way if you choose to flame this thread in any way please make sure it maintains some intellectual structure i cba ith illiterate 13yo’s

I know its been said, but I guess people don’t read the actual article. Nowhere in the article does it say that a halo videogame will be on the PS3. They’re talking about the movie. If certain production companies pick up the movie, then the HD version of the movie will be on blu-ray only, therefore will be coming to the PS3. Now there are atleast 1 production company that could pick it up and make an HD-DVD only version so the HD version could not be watched on the PS3, but I digress.

OK, It seems to be a fact,since nobody is disputing it here,that the ps3 has a better graphics engine and more power than a 360.I thought thats what half of gaming was all about.At least thats what companies always brag about right.As far as cost.Lets say that you bought a 360 when they came out.you paid like 400 bucks right.you have no hdmi hook up,no hd dvd player,you pay for your online gaming,you cant surf the actual internet with it to my knowledge,and your controllers have inferior batteries and arent bluetooth.so if you have a nice tv like myself,in order to have actual high def games and movies,you had to basically buy an upgraded 360,which still couldnt play hd-dvd,so now you have to spend 200 more bucks for an hd-dvd drive(until recently anyhow.At least sony had the vision to include a browser,hdmi,bluetooth,blu-ray,almost total backwards compatability,high quality controller batteries that charge fast and have longer shelf life.better graphics,more power.the thing runs and can actually be used like a home pc.In the end,i love HALO,it’s an awesome game,and i dont think the 360 sucks.But if HALO didnt exist,would you all even be having this discussion?Would there even be such thing as a 360?How many 360 consoles would have been nsold if it werent for HALO3?Name one other universally admired title available only on 360? Yeah the PS3 sucks. It sucks having a console that doesn’t fail all the time (Ring of Death). I have yet to know a 360 owner who’s system hasn’t failed. The 360 rocks with its support for the failed HDDVD too. I HATE being able to watch movies in HD with bluray and play games in 1080p. UGH! Microsoft is such a great company I want to own all of their products like the crap-laced Vista OS, a 360, SYNC in my Ford…Oh WAIT I BUY RELIABLE/QUALITY PRODUCTS cuz i don’t like to piss my money away. So I buy the PS3, a Macbook, and a Toyota. Quality is SO overrated people! The 360 has a better variety of games, but keep in mind they rushed the garbage system to market a year ahead of the Wii and PS3 and it is essentially just a Xbox1.5 and MS paid an assload for all the ‘exclusives’. But at the end of the day, Sony still has the MGS4 exclusive, actually has a profitable console unlike the financial loss enhancing xboxs, bluray, oh and the PS3 is so powerful it helps to cure cancer and other diseases with Folding@home. As cool of a game as Halo is, Warhawk on PS3 is just as much fun for multiplayer, in my humble opinion.

Guys don’t laugh. With this year’s E3 announcement of FFXIII going to the Xbox this might be their Sony’s death blow. I have to admit being a Xbox fan that I was even shocked. This is the one title along with Metal Gear that moves systems. Just like Halo and Gears of war did for the Xbox. Sony is going to have to pull a major rabbit of their hat to get by this one.

However unlikely it may be that Bungie or Epic Games get a PS3 port. This is exactly what needs to be done if Sony is going to stay afloat. On the flip side PS still has a larger FF base and I somewhat question how well it will sell on the Xbox. Clearly Xbox is trying to gain ground on it’s sales in Japan.
Although I am not sure how successful this will be. Not to mention how many Xbox owners are FF fans as well. Their might be some but I doubt it is enough to warrant a port.

Sony needs to quit being the nice guy and pull off the kid gloves. The only way were are going to get better games from either console is if both stay competitive toward each other. You take one out of the picture then everything else suffers because of it.

well guys i have inside knowlege of bungie and microsoft, bungie bought themselves out of microsoft so they could release halo on other consoles, their game plan is t play it cross consoles and not be restricted to it by just having X box, so with bungies seperation from microsoft they used a development of the game thay made for X box, but X box couldnt play it quick enough, so they are bringing out halo 4 for ps3, but microsoft made them vring out halo wars to finish their 4 game contract with X box and the 3 game contract with PC versions
