Play Lair on your PSP with remote play

Your colleagues at work would look weird at you if you walked into the office with a Playstation 3 under your arm, but now you don’t have to anymore. Thanks to the Remote Play functionality on the PSP you can now Lair on your handheld.

Previously you could only use the Remote Play feature for watching videos, playing music and browsing through your pictures, but now Lair is the first game that allows you to stream its content to the PSP. According to people on the Playstation forum, it’s working pretty well, although it really depends on your connection. Since the Playstation 3 only compresses the video output and sends it over to your PSP, you’ll see better results with a better connection. Of course, this also works with local remote play on your home network, which usually has much more bandwidth available.

If you want to try this yourself, simply set up your PS3 for remote use with your PSP and then fire up remote play on both sides. After selecting the Blu-ray disc on your PSP, you’ll get disconnected at first, but when you reconnect, Lair is booted up and you’re ready to play. It has to be noted though that since the PSP controller doesn’t have L2, R2 or two analog sticks, you might experience some inconveniences.

Mommy and Daddy can now finally watch TV while little Billie plays PS3 games on his PSP in his room upstairs!

Or you could simply plug in a USB pad and use the analog sticks :) Yes, that works. It just doesn’t work that way with the SIXAXIS. Incredibly stupid design choice. But who am I to ever say anything positive about german developers :) If Lair’s controls work only half as good as the SIXAXIS controls in Warhawk it’ll be fine. I’ll know in a couple hours ..
