Having only spoken to the developers of Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway in August at the Leipzig Games Convention, we were promised that the release of the game would be “soon“, suggesting that the game would finally ship this holiday season. Alas, the “soon” has become next year, as Ubisoft failed to mention it in their holiday line up list. However, news is spreading that the game has reached Beta build, with the chance of a public Beta being rolled out soon.

The game has slipped into Ubisoft’s fiscal fourth quarter 2007, meaning the game could be shipping anywhere between January and March of next year. A huge shame as this isn’t the first time the game has seen a delay, but trying to get the game ready for simultaneous release on the 360, PS3 and PC is clearly taking its toll. The demonstration in Leipzig was done on the 360, strongly suggesting that either the PS3 or the PC development is proving slightly problematic.

In more encouraging news though, the game has reached Beta build, and Gamespot are reporting that a public Beta in the style of Call of Duty 4 before it could be rolled out before the end of the year (hopefully we’ll actually see it on the PS3 this time too).

Regardless, this is disappointing, but hopefully the wait will be worth it. Based on what we saw at Leipzig, we think it will.
