PS3 Guitar Hero III guitar not fully wireless

If you just couldn’t wait to rock out to Guitar Hero III with a totally wireless guitar on your Platstation 3 later this month, then prepare to be disappointed. News has emerged that the Playstation 3 version of Guitar Hero III will require gamers to use a USB dongle to connect their guitar to their console.

The guitar for Guitar Hero III on the PS3 isn't fully wireless

Wired has revealed this piece of news that more than likely will not go down well with gamers. Wired stated that the guitar for the Playstation 3 version of the game doesn’t work seamlessly with PS3’s built-in Bluetooth and that this is reason behind the pick-shaped USB dongle that gamers will have to use. The dongle and guitar will feature a sync button which gamers will have to push when they wish to connect the two together.

Guitar Hero III is being developed for Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. The game is scheduled for release on October 28, and if you would like to learn about the setlist before playing the game later this month, you can check it out here.

Even with the “dongle dangle” it looks wireless to me. Is there a wire running from the guitar to the console? No. Cut the xcrap 3fixme fanboyism and report some real stories, like the 5 disc games the 360 will have.

5 disc??? right how about u pull your head out of your ass and look at the facts…. there everywhere!!

@Eli

I think your dumb name calling of a rival console makes it clear that the label of “fanboyism” belongs to you, the article says “not fully wireless” which as you can see from the picture shows a dongle protruding from the front of the console on about 10 to 12 inches of wire.

This article might not be a big news story but it is accurate and does not contain fanboyism, unlike your pathetic fanboy rant.

does that mean the sixaxis isnt fully wireless as it NEEDS a usb cable to charge.
you can always hide the interface devise.

@Eli

Why would they post 360 news on playstatic?

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-10-08 17:01:25 | Reply

please, loads of playstatic articles are tainted with the viewpoints of 360 fanboys. this site is a child site of xboxic after all.

Okay, so give some examples?

Looks like we will continue to wait.

Seems the only time a Sony fanyboy opens his mouth is when they want to make a statement with no factual evidence to support it. Which is understandable going by the history of the company they are trying to defend.

Still waiting for that reply bot.

I don’t own a ps3 yet but i don’t see a problem with the dongle for the wireless. hell i wish they would have made something like that for the 360 for GH2 instead of making us wait for the fall update to come out so the GH3 wireless will work on it. but no matter which console its on GH is an awesome game.

Comment by Eli on 2007-10-07 18:29:21 | Reply

I don’t see where youre getting 12 inchec of wire jackass. looks to be 5 at most. and talk about all the great “wireless products” the xcrap has, like the headset for xbox live thats huge and plugs into the controller which already weighs about 6 pounds! lmao gimme bluetooth any day.

you’re a stupide faget. have you not seen their wireless headset you stupid ass. make a legitamate remark next time.

I have this adapter i used to use to get my ps2 attached to my network. it is a wireless adapter that you run a network cable from the adapter to the ps2.

i apparently wasn’t on a wireless network? all this time i thought i was.

Comment by Willfry on 2007-10-08 20:37:08 | Reply

I guess you guys don’t like anything that could possibly be a problem to the PS3. ;)

But tbh, although this isn’t completely wireless, I still don’t see how it could be a problem. Beats the wired one I’ll be getting for my 360. =P

Comment by Yoshima 31ite on 2007-10-08 21:09:11 | Reply

The guitar for GH III for the 360 is “wireless” not wired. the guitar for GH II is wired.

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-10-08 21:33:03 | Reply

anyone who has any complaint about this is honestly an idiot. a 6″ cord which can easily be taped to the back side of the guitar if you choose. that’s what you’re complaining about / saying the 360 is soo triumphant because of.

“Oh my god, real guitarists who use wireless guitars are not fully wireless.” You guys are jackasses. On a real guitar, in order to connect wirelessly to an amplifier you have to have a little wireless transmitter which plugs into the jack on your guitar. This transmitter is typically attached to the guitar strap behind your back.

Cry more.
PS3 pwnz the 360.

Holy Crap!! Doesn’t anybody know anything about anything anymore! I feel like I’m taking CRAZY pills ;)

Eli - the 360 controller weighs more due to the ‘rumble’ feature. When Sony adds rumble, then the PS3 SixAxis will be significantly heavier as well.

Augustus - Double Trouble!!! Your PS2 was not wireless - It was tricked into thinking it was wireless. And 2, the 6″ of cord can be taped to the back of the guitar if you want to stand 4 inches away from your PS3. It has to connect to a USB port attached to the PS3. . . H3LL0

(Walks away and swears in Spanish under breath)

are you sure about that? it’s a little usb wifi adapter that hangs off the guitar is what i gathered? a little 6 inch ‘dongle’ hanging off your guitar, exactly like when playing a real ‘wireless’ guitar.

maybe i read it wrong?

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-10-08 22:36:34 | Reply

and now that i look even closer, it appears the ‘dongle’ attaches to your ps3, and the guitar itself has no wires on it. what would be the purpose of the ’sync’ buttons if this ‘dongle’ was a cord from the ps3 to your guitar?

the guitar is wireless. and you’ll have a little cord attached to the front of your ps3. wah. i already have a keyboard and my recharge cable dangling from it.

Comment by Sage on 2007-10-09 10:58:08 | Reply

Well what do you guys mean that it isn fully wireless. of course it is just because a usb adapter is doing the work instead of the PS3s bluetooth doesn make it any less wireless.PS remember the 360 wireless also has a chord with the usb connection at the end of it. does that mean the 360( with the adapter connected) is not fully wireless?

Comment by Scott on 2007-10-09 16:14:53 | Reply

Right. You have completley missed the mark.

a. The thing for the xbox is the play and charge kit which, from very good sources, is going to be discontinued due to it taking 14+ hours to charge when the controller is not in use. Compared to the quick charge kit that charges fully in 2 hours. Hence the reason the elite version was bundled in. Expect to see that happen early next year.

b. It isnt fully wireless. This is a reciever, just like the 360 wireless one. It is not in built… GET IT!?!

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-10-09 16:34:37 | Reply

by your logic, guitarists playing ‘wireless’ guitars are not wireless either.

your logic is retarded.

whether i use an external belkin / linksys / etc wireless adapter that connects to the 360 via a network cable, or the wireless adapter that attaches to the 360, my connection is wireless.

the wii remote, which has a wire attaching the nunchuk to the wiimote, is wireless.

wireless implies no cord running across your room / house. in all these situations, the setups are wireless.

Comment by The_Glovner on 2007-10-09 18:53:15 | Reply

Guitarists don’t play wireless guitars in any capacity, no such thing.

What we would play if we didn’t want to be jacked straight into the amp or DI box would be a radio jack, which comes with a wire, so no a guitarist would never use a wirless guitar.

Unless you mean an acoustic in which case they don’t even require amplification so thats about the only one you could term wireless.

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-10-09 19:28:10 | Reply

‘bla bla bla, bla bla bla bla’. that’s all i ever read from you.

Comment by The_Glovner on 2007-10-10 12:20:29 | Reply

Well another lie and contridiction from you then as I seem to remember you saying you wouldn’t even read what I post.

Full of shit Bot and you know it.

And as I play guitar, piano and bass guitar (the latter in a band) and have played for 17 years doing by now well over 200 gigs with amplification plugged in by both radio and direct jack then I think I am in a position to know more about the subject than you are.

Ram that one Bot.

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-10-10 16:12:06 | Reply

you’re so cool, have i ever told you that?

i stand by my claim. all the above situations are wireless. if theres no cord running acoss your living room / hallway / stage floor, you are indeed ‘wireless’. a 6″ transmitter, tho it contains a wire, is ignored, because it is not an obstruction.

Comment by The_Glovner on 2007-10-10 19:55:46 | Reply

Never at any point have I said something to appear cool (not sure the same can be applied to you though) all I have done is state another fact.

You can term it wireless if you want but the fact that there is a Jack plugged into your guitar with a “wire” running to a transmitter that is usually attached to either your strap or belt (and by the way it does get in the fucking way, I hate them), there is then a receiver attached by a wire running to a jack plug which is plugged into the amp direct or through a DI input pretty much says to me it still has wires, which is what this article states, there is wires involved. Doesn’t say that it isn’t better than having a wire running across your room but it still ain’t the same as a fully wireless input.

But you with your Sony tinted specs just thinks that anything said about the PS3 which isn’t out and out praise then it must be shite.

Suck it up fanboy.

Comment by AugustusBot on 2007-10-10 21:15:31 | Reply

for the record, i’d be laughing at you retards bitching about a 6″ wire if this were for the 360 also.

Comment by The_Glovner on 2007-10-11 00:53:55 | Reply

Who is actually bitching? As I have said time and time again I am only stating facts. I ain’t even getting the game, whats the point I can just pick up a real guitar.

And for the record your opinion doesn’t count for shit when you can never provide any facts to back it up, fanboy.

Still ain’t seen a reply to that thesis yet?

Comment by The_Glovner on 2007-10-11 01:02:59 | Reply

Read the actual thread and tell me at one point where someone has come in and moaned about this and said that the 360 doesn’t have this so that means the 360 PWNS PS3.

Nope you can’t.

But I can show you fucking loads where you and youre PS3 fanboy crew are saying “oh, oh, this means fuck all, eh…. it’s not really a wire so…. eh …. that means the PS3 still owns 360 man… yeah thats what it means …. right?…. guys thats right isn’t it?…. guys….anybody?”.

Plenty statements trying to come up with some lame excuse about something that they think is shit on the 360. And after every one, what do you see? somebody posting a factual comment that makes a mockery of the statement that preceded it. And you know thats kind of what my post did as well. You know the one? The one you said that I would pussy out off. And then I replied all for you and you can’t even be bothered to read it let alone try to come up with a reply for it.

Keep it up fanboy, ya doin good. Your mum still loves you at least.

Comment by Scott on 2007-10-12 19:33:52 | Reply

No. you are wrong. It’s a wired controller that uses an infra red reciever. I could make one if i wanted to but it wouldnt make it wirless. It would still be a wired controller but with a reciever to recieve the signals through the USB ports. Unlike the sixaxis and the 360 controllers which use the inbuilt wirless capabilities

Comment by Mr. Snrub on 2008-12-29 20:13:27 | Reply

Yeah i have one it works great the wire is like 2 in long but so what if you care so much why dont you cut it and make it shorter really it would take me like 10 min besides i dont mind i use mine into the PC to use this program called Fretbuzz it works great here is the link www.theguitarzeros.com/download_fretbuzz.php
